Mir McLean is a women's basketball player at the University of Virginia. She excelled in high school at Roland Park Country School in Baltimore, Maryland and signed to play her college basketball at the University of Connecticut where she helped her team to the Final Four in 2021. After being grated a waiver of immediate eligibility by the NCAA, McLean transferred to Virginia and played in 11 games in 2021-22.

In 2022-23, she ranked third in the ACC with 9.6 rebounds per game and was named to the All-ACC Academic Team. Her season ended in January against NC State when she suffered a knee injury.

Gary Gilmore has been the head baseball coach at Coastal Carolina University since 1996. He is a nine-time Big South Coach of the Year and has led his team to 18 NCAA Division 1 Regional appearances including 2023. 

In 2016, he led Coastal Carolina on an improbable run that saw them win the College World Series and was named National Coach of the Year. 

Today on the podcast, we talk to Gary Gilmore about winning a College World Series, his future as a coach, what discipleship looks like, lessons in failure and battling cancer.

Chantelle Anderson is an author, speaker and podcast host. In college, she was a standout college basketball player at the University of Vanderbilt. She was a three-time First-Team All-SEC and in 2002, was named SEC co-Player of the Year. Her number 21 is retired by Vanderbilt and is a member of the Vanderbilt Athletics Hall of Fame.

In 2003, she was selected second overall by the Sacramento Monarchs in the WNBA Draft. After a few seasons in the WNBA, she played pro ball overseas in Turkey and France before retiring in 2009.

Today on the podcast, we talk to Chantelle about how injuries and setbacks led her to Christ, not wasting the pain in her life and why she's passionate about sharing her faith in Jesus with anyone that will listen.

Jay Jacobs was the Athletic Director at Auburn University from 2004-2018. During his tenure with the Tigers, he was part of Auburn's undefeated football program in 2010 that won the national championship, beating Oregon 22-19. 

After his time came to end at Auburn, Jacobs moved to the University of Florida, where he was the Gators' Executive Associate Athletics Director of External Affairs from 2018-2023. He retired from his role at Florida on June 30, 2023. 

Today on the podcast, Jay Jacobs shares about his decision to retire from Florida, playing college football with Bo Jackson at Auburn, how he has lived his faith in Jesus out at the work place, overcoming adversity and the importance of foster parenting.

Brock Huard is a college football analyst for Fox Sports and a Seattle radio host for 710 ESPN. In high school, Huard was the 1995 Gatorade High School Football Player of the Year and had a standout collegiate career at the University of Washington, where he set multiple passing records.

Huard was selected in the 3rd round of the 1999 NFL Draft by the Seattle Seahawks out of the University of Washington. He played six seasons in the NFL, including two as Peyton Manning’s backup in Indianapolis. 

Today on the podcast, we talk to Brock Huard about growing in wisdom with age, playing for coach Tony Dungy in the NFL, using foul language in sports and the importance of building and maintaining relationships.

Alex Highsmith is a linebacker with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was selected in the third round by Pittsburgh in the 2020 NFL Draft after a stellar college career at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

In 2022, Highsmith led the Steelers with a career-high 14.5 sacks and led the NFL in forced fumbles. He was rewarded with a four-year contract extension.

Adam McQuaid is a former NHL player with the Bruins, Rangers and Blue Jackets. He was selected 55th overall in the 2005 NHL Draft by Columbus and after being traded to Boston, made his NHL debut in the 2009-2010 season with the Bruins. He played 10 years with Boston from 2009-2018 and participated in two Stanley Cup Finals and won the Cup in 2011. 

After retiring following the 2019 season, McQuaid is now a Player Development Coordinator with his former team, the Boston Bruins.

Jay Feely is a former NFL kicker who is currently an NFL analyst with CBS Sports. He played his college football at the University of Michigan with Tom Brady and came to the NFL in 2001 with Atlanta. He would play 14 years in the NFL with the Falcons, Giants, Dolphins, Jets, Cardinals and Bears.

He joined CBS Sports in 2015 and began calling NFL games in the 2017 season.

Ryan Folmar has been the head baseball coach at Oral Roberts University since 2013. In 2023, he was named the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Coach of the Year after leading his team to a 52-14 record and a berth in the 2023 College World Series. 

As a player, Folmar excelled at Oklahoma State University from 1994-1997 and helped his team to the 1996 College World Series his junior year. He was selected in the 46th round of the 1993 MLB Draft by the Angels but chose to attend college in Stillwater.

Teddy Blueger is an NHL player with the Vancouver Canucks. He played his college hockey at Minnesota State University and signed an entry level agreement with the Pittsburgh Penguins. He made his NHL debut on January 20, 2019 and scored his first goal a few days later. 

Blueger played four years with the Penguins from 2019-2023 before being traded to Las Vegas in March of 2023, where he would become a member of the 2023 Stanley Cup champion Golden Knights club. In July of 2023, he signed a one-year contract with Vancouver. 

Today on the podcast, we talk to Teddy about winning a Stanley Cup, returning to his hometown of Latvia with the Cup, embracing change as an athlete, meeting Sidney Crosby and showing gratitude to God for his hockey journey.

Homer Drew coached basketball for 41 years including more than two decades with Valparaiso University.

Scott Drew is the head coach at Baylor University and won the 2021 NCAA men's basketball national championship. 

Bryce Drew is the head coach at Grand Canyon University and a former NBA player who starred at Valparaiso University playing for his dad in the late 90's.

Luke McCown played quarterback in the NFL from 2004-2016. He was selected in the fourth round of the 2004 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns. His 12-year career was spent with the Browns, Buccaneers, Jaguars, Saints and Falcons.

In 2017, he was inducted into the Louisiana Tech Athletics Hall of Fame. Luke’s brother, Josh, is a longtime NFL quarterback and a current coach with the Carolina Panthers, and his other brother, Randy, played QB at Texas A&M.

Kelsey Tischler is a former college football kicker at Grove City College in Pennsylvania. She was a four-year member of the football team at Grove City and graduated in 2020. In high school, he was an all-conference kicker for the football team at Bethel Park, PA high school while also competing for the Cross Country and Track and Field programs as well.

Fred Stokes is a former NFL defensive end who played 10 seasons with the Rams, Redskins and Saints. In 1991, he helped Washington to an NFL title, contributing 2 1/2 sacks, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery in their Super Bowl XXVI win over Buffalo.

In college, Stokes played on two NCAA 1-AA national champion teams in 1985 and 1986 with Georgia Southern.

Jonathan Isaac is a forward in the NBA with the Orlando Magic, selected sixth overall in the 2017 NBA Draft out of Florida State, where he excelled in his one season with the Seminoles.

In 2019-20, Isaac had a breakout season, averaging 11.9 points, 6.8 rebounds and 2.3 blocks per game, but two injuries to his knee shortened that season and have caused him to miss the entire 2020-21 and 2021-22 NBA seasons. He is also an author and his new book “Why I Stand,” released in May 2022 and is the founder of UNITUS, a new clothing and apparel brand, launched in July 2023.

Mark Herzlich played seven seasons in the NFL with the New York Giants. He was a member of the 2011 team that won Super Bowl XLVI over the Patriots. Herzlich retired following the 2017 season and is currently a football analyst with the ACC Network.

Undrafted in 2011 out of Boston College, Herzlich was the 2008 ACC Defensive Player of the Year and named first-team All-American at linebacker that same season. The next year, he was diagnosed with Ewing’s sarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer. He was able to overcome and return to the field in 2010, and he won the Rudy Award and the ACC’s Brian Piccolo Award after starting 13 games and finishing third on the team in tackles.

Today on the podcast, we talk to Herzlich about serving with IJM and combatting human trafficking. He also shares recent experiences of playing pickleball at Fenway Park and having dinner with former President George W. Bush in Maine.

Joe Mazzulla is the head coach of the Boston Celtics. He joined Boston in 2019 as an assistant coach and was elevated to his current role in October 2022. In his first season, he was the Eastern Conference head coach at the NBA All-Star Game and led the Celtics to within one game of the NBA Finals. 

In college, Mazzulla helped West Virginia reach the 2010 NCAA Final Four scoring 17 points in an Elite Eight upset over Kentucky.

Mark Teixeira played 14 years in the major leagues, racking up numerous awards and honors and winning a World Series in 2009 with the New York Yankees.

After starring at Georgia Tech, Teixeira was drafted No. 5 overall in 2001 by the Texas Rangers, for whom he played from 2003-2007. After brief stints with the Atlanta Braves and Los Angeles Angels, he finished his career with eight seasons as a member of the Yankees. He was selected to the All-Star Game three times, won five Gold Glove Awards, three Silver Slugger Awards and was the American League home runs and runs batted in leader in 2009.

Mark joined the Sports Spectrum Get in the Game podcast and spoke to Scott Linebrink about his relationship with God, his baseball journey and what it means to serve and give back.

Jeff Hostetler is a former professional football QB who played in the NFL from 1984-1998 with the Giants, Raiders and Redskins. He is a two-time Super Bowl champion, most famously known for his 1990 season where he took over for Phil Simms late in the season and helped New York to their second championship in Super Bowl XXV beating the Bills 20-19 in one of the most dramatic Super Bowls ever.

In college, Hostetler began his career at Penn State and then transferred to West Virginia where he excelled and helped his team to 18 wins in two years as their starting quarterback. In 1998, he was inducted into the West Virginia Sports Hall of Fame.

Today on the podcast, we talk to Jeff Hostetler about his journey of faith, his Super Bowl XXV experience and the importance of suicide awareness with his QB United initiative.
