In her 20 year pro career, Brenda had sixteen WTA titles including wins over Venus Williams, Lindsay Davenport and Monica Seles. She is known for her fast serve and in July of 2006, claimed her place as the fastest server in WTA history, recording a 130 mph serve in the first round of the Western & Southern Financial Group Women's Open qualifying tournament in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Her career saw her reach the Finals of the French Open in 1988 and the US Open in 1995 in the Grand Slam Doubles competition. Her highest ranking was No. 9 overall in May of 1996.
